I love the variety that running Take Care Package offers. It's been stretching me in ways I never thought I would professionally venture. Having said that, I had a chance to go back to my old passion yesterday and I was a very happy camper!
Sure, I did take a little cat nap - though that's not the passion I am referring to.
My friends know that I am a total nerd: math major, analyst-at-heart who can own any data set you put in front of me. I find it soothing to take a chaotic set of data and turn in into something meaningful. Kind of like spring cleaning, for you organizers out there.
Before I had my son, most of my jobs were data related. And they made me happy. It's similar to forensic work. The data tells a story. You just have to know what you're looking at or know someone who can help.
The data work I did was compiling information that people shared with me at the expo. Even though it involved data, this type of a job used to stress me out a little. It requires attention to detail, and usually without much background on what it means. Yesterday, it was much more interesting. I went through the information sheets and remembered that one of the couples had Santa help with the proposal. Another person thought the puppy in our Cuddles & Smooches set reminded her of her dog. It was a fun trip down memory lane and was rewarding to get the information down in one place.
I thoroughly enjoyed my day of working with data again. It was a fun way to keep mixing it up!
What's your professional passion? Is it something that you've done and loved, or is it something you would like to pursue?
