As the small business owner and sole employee of takecarepackage.com, the journey to launch has not always been easy and has sometimes been lonely. There are no other employees to commiserate with on deadlines. There's no one to catch up with on water cooler gossip during the day to find out who's been drinking all of Jenn's milk (sorry, Jenn, I guess it had to have been me?). And if something needs to get done, then it's all on my shoulders.
Don't get me wrong - I love my job! I've thoroughly enjoyed the two packages (yay!!!) I've been able to send out because I feel like I've been able to be a part of helping people who are short on time emotionally connect from a distance. I wouldn't be doing this if it wasn't my passion. Though there is one challenge that I truly struggled with from the beginning.
What title do I give myself to emotionally connect with my customers? I am a stickler for accuracy, so do I use this as an opportunity to share with them what I do: Buyer / Card Printer / Website Liaison / Mail Room Lead / Marketing Dude / Communications Rep / Finance Analyst / Manager? Might be a touch long... Do I keep it simple and go with a short and sweet label: Owner?
For now, I've decided to use CEO as my title. It is accurate in that I am the highest ranking person at takecarepackage.com; however, I'm also the lowest ranking person. So would Minion work? Minion is more fun than CEO and makes me happy because my son was a Minion this Halloween. But if I did that, would I have to wear overalls all of the time? Or I could use Lady as my title? I might get more respect using that title in some circles, although my British husband might disown me for trying to wriggle my way into nobility...unless he embraces it and starts to call himself Lord? I'm not sure how he feels about that - we haven't yet had that discussion. Good dinner time convo.
What do you think? Should I keep CEO as my title? Or should I change it to something more warm and fuzzy? Whatever the decision, I'll want to get imaginary Jenn's opinion on it...unless she's too displeased with me about the evaporating milk to chat.
